The Sippy Cups Welcome New Member Gabby La La

Multi-Instrumentalist Will Join The Band In Time For Fall Tour

New Album The Time Machine Wins NAPPA and Parents' Choice Awards

Gabby La La

The Sippy Cups are welcoming a new member, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Gabby La La, to their lineup. La La will join the acclaimed children's rock band on their national Time Machine 2009 Tour, with dates this fall in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Albany and other cities. See reverse for a list of tour dates.

Gabby La La is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who plays the accordion, ukulele, theremin and sitar. She studied North Indian classical music with master Ali Akbar Khan at his college in San Rafael and received a BFA in Sitar Performance from the California Institute of the Arts. In the pop realm, she has backed artists including Primus's Les Claypool, Snoop Dogg, Macy Gray and Bob Weir & Ratdog, and collaborated with producers Prince Paul and Don Newkirk and keyboardist Bernie Worrell on Baby Elephant's album "Turn My Teeth Up." Along the way, La La developed her own unique style, and has been sharing her kooky and spooky music with audiences of all ages. She released her solo debut Be Careful What You Wish For... in 2005 on Claypool's Prawn Song Records. The All Music Guide wrote in a review of the album, "La La is such a captivating, bubbly, and commanding presence and seems to be enjoying herself so unconditionally that the disc can't help but produce a smile on the grouchiest face." Her website is www.gabbylala.com. She joins the band as longtime Sippy Cup Alison Faith Levy leaves to spend more time with her family.

Gabby La La says of joining The Sippy Cups, "I always wanted to be a real Sippy Cup! I imagined that I would be playing music and sharing my love of poodles and the colors pink and blue with all of the kids, but I didn't really think it would happen! I guess it just proves that you can never dream too big!"

Sippy Cups co-creator and lead singer Paul Godwin says of his new bandmate, "Sippy La La will add some sweet new sounds, sights & flavors to our Mix-In. We welcome her kooky songwriting, space-age vocal stylings and bevy of unique instruments. See you in the next dimension."

The Sippy Cups' new album, The Time Machine, recently won two prestigious awards: an Honors Award in the National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) ChildrenŐs Products competition, and a 2009 Parents' Choice Recommended Award. (More information at nappa.parenthood.com and www.parents-choice.org.) "Seven is the New 14" -- the first single form The Time Machine -- hit #1 on Sirius XM Radio's "Kids Place Live" in August and was recently the first-ever free "Discovery Download" in the Children's Music genre on the iTunes Music Store, receiving 90,000 downloads in one week.

Juggler/performer Zack Bernstein will also appear with The Sippy Cups on the Time Machine 2009 Tour. In his native San Francisco, Bernstein teaches at the SF Circus Center, performs with Scott Wells and Dancers, and works at the SFMOMA. In 1997, he co-founded the performance group Capacitor, touring on the university circuit and abroad in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Closer to home, Zack has appeared as featured guest artist for KQED-FM, BMW Films, Jane's Addiction, the Flying Karamazov Brothers, Earth Circus, and the New Pickle Circus.
